Internships

Internships and other forms of experiential learning provide great opportunities for students to gain skills and experience in their field of study. Internships are considered those opportunities that include active participation and “hands-on” work. If you are interested in completing an internship at Aultman, please contact your school program to check if there is currently a contract or affiliation agreement in place before you apply. Please read the following instructions thoroughly in order to avoid registration errors.

Currently enrolled college students pursuing one of the following experiences:

  • Internship
  • Externship
  • Preceptorship
  • Capstone
  • Practicum

Aultman Health System utilizes ACEMAPP, a student onboarding platform for all student experiences.

  • Process is required for all employees and external students.
  • A preceptor must be identified before starting this process.

  • Students must complete all required steps to begin their student experience.

Requirements to Submit in ACEMAPP

  • Background Check: A BCI background check is required for your experience. (If you have lived outside Ohio in the past 5 years, you will be required to perform an FBI background check instead.) Your background check cannot be more than 12 months old. If it is due to expire during the timeframe of your experience, you will be asked to complete a new background check. The cost of the background check is the responsibility of the student. The student's school might perform the background check for them for a fee. If not, please use this link to find a location to complete the background check.
  • TB Documentation: TB testing is required for all student experiences and is done at the expense of the student; this requirement is not able to be waived. TB testing can be completed at a primary care physician’s office, the health department, occupational medicine provider (i.e. AultWorks) or a college/university health services department. For more information, please visit this link.
  • Immunization Documentation: The below immunizations are required for all hands-on student experiences at Aultman. If your immunization record is not current, you can submit an immunization waiver in ACEMAPP.
    • Hepatitis B
    • MMR
    • TDAP
    • Varicella
  • Flu Documentation: Flu season restriction is from Nov. 1 – March 31 annually, unless extended by the hospital executive team. During that timeframe, all participating in student experiences are to either have a flu shot or must submit a flu waiver in ACEMAPP. If you waive the flu shot, a mask must be worn in patient care areas during your experience.
  • COVID 19 Vaccination Documentation: Aultman Health System is required to report monthly COVID-19 vaccine data to CMS. Due to this requirement, we must know the vaccination status of all students and instructors until further notice. You can submit your vaccine information or decline it by filling out a declination form in ACEMAPP.

No student/student group will be allowed to complete a student experience at Aultman without an affiliation agreement in place that has been executed by the Aultman Health System and the student’s school/program. This is verified and/or completed by the Aultman Student Experience Coordinator and must be in place before your experience starts.

Please complete all paperwork at least 4 weeks prior to your requested start date for processing. Applications and documentation not received in a timely manner could result in the delay of a student experience. You will receive a notification in ACEMAPP once your application has been reviewed by the Aultman Health System Student Experiences team.

If you have any questions regarding your application, please contact the ACEMAPP Support Team at 844-223-4292.
