Hospice and Palliative Care
At Aultman Hospice and Palliative Care, our goal is to bring the highest level of care, so our patients have the best quality of life during times of serious illness. Our team of clinicians helps patients manage their disease by educating patients and caregivers how to successfully care for the symptoms associated with serious disease and offer support to patients and their caregivers as they learn to live with and manage their illness.
Even though palliative care and hospice care do some of the same things for our patients, there are distinct differences between the two services.
- Palliative care is specialized medical care for people living with a serious illness. Our clinicians work with your existing specialists to help coordinate care. There is a focus on relieving pain and other troubling symptoms and meeting your emotional, spiritual, and practical needs. In short, this new medical specialty aims to improve your quality of life. This type of care is focused on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of the illness.
- Hospice is appropriate when it has been determined the patient has six months or less to live with the normal progression of their disease process. Our team can help patients and families maximize living even as they grieve the coming loss, ensure freedom from pain and recognize their gifts and blessings even as the final days approach. Many families wait until their loved one’s last days to call hospice; however, we encourage families to contact Aultman Hospice as soon as possible so we can provide months of patient care and family support – rather than just days.
Aultman Hospice provides telephone consultations and home visits as needed on a 24-hour, seven-day-a-week basis. Call us at 330-479-2378 or click here to email us. You can also click the links below to learn more.
