Be a Hospice Volunteer

By volunteering for Aultman Hospice, you can provide compassionate support to patients and families in times of need. Here are the volunteer opportunities that are available:

  • Respite volunteer – give patients the gift of your presence and give caregivers time away.
  • Nursing home volunteers – provide companionship and support to hospice patients who live in nursing homes or extended-care facilities.
  • Vigil volunteers – offer comfort and support in the final hours of a patient’s life.
  • Hospice spokesperson – educate public service organizations about end-of-life care and Aultman Hospice.
  • Administrative volunteer – work in the Aultman Hospice office and assist with mailings, computer work and other clerical duties.
  • Bereavement volunteer – provide telephone support or assist with support groups and special events after completing the initial core training and additional bereavement training.
  • Compassionate Care Center volunteer – administrative, respite and vigil volunteers can be cross-trained to work in our inpatient hospice unit.
  • Baker and special meals volunteer – provide homemade baked goods for patients and families in recognition of a special event or holiday. Bring your favorite recipe and ingredients to bake in our Compassionate Care Center for our families. Assist with providing a meal or snack on occasion for our families or hospice program event.
