Mental Health: Could You Benefit From Therapy?

May is National Mental Health Awareness Month, and we are shining a spotlight on mental health and wellness.

Today, the team from the Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is sharing more information about how their program can help.

First, what exactly is the IOP? At Aultman, IOP practitioners work with patients through structured group, individual and even art therapy to help them overcome mental health conditions. In the IOP, patients have the freedom to come and go to each session and return to their home when therapy is done for the day.

How do you know when you or a loved one could benefit from the IOP? Ask the following questions:

  • Yesterday and today, have you completed basic needs – things like getting dressed, eating meals, drinking water, showering or getting out of bed?
  • Are you calling off work or school or haven’t felt effective in these domains?
  • Have you been isolating, avoiding or canceling social engagements?
  • Have you seen an individual therapist or medication provider regarding mental health, but you still feel stuck?

If someone can’t complete basic needs such as those described above and is disengaging with work/school and social life, the IOP may be able to help. We invite you to visit our program webpage or leave a confidential voicemail at 330-451-2070.

Contact the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline if you are worried about a loved one who may need crisis support or if you are experiencing mental health-related distress. You can also chat at 988lifeline.org.
