CANTON, Ohio (March 4, 2022) – On March 1, Aultman College celebrated the official opening of Aully’s Skills Lab, a new space that will allow nursing and medical assisting students to get hands-on practice under the guidance of their professors.

“The health science programs heavily rely on skills, and these labs provide us opportunity where we can teach those skills and the students can continue to practice to be the best they can be,” said Dr. Jo Ann Donnenwirth, dean of nursing.

In Aully’s Skills lab, students can practice basic patient care competencies on mannequins and phlebotomy procedures on artificial arms. This is the second skills lab in the college and is the only one with a pediatrics area featuring a crib like the ones used in hospitals to care for children. The college also has a simulation lab featuring high-tech mannequins that can talk, breath, bleed and even give birth.
