CANTON, Ohio (Dec. 15, 2023) – The Carroll County Foundation and an anonymous donor have teamed up to better equip Aultman Carrollton for emergency situations with a battery-powered, stair-climbing evacuation chair.

“At our facility, therapy services and our fitness center are located on the lowest floor, and many of those patients who are recovering from surgeries, sports-related injuries, stroke or Parkinson’s disease use a cane, crutches, walker, scooter or wheelchair,” said Christine Grossi, PTA, assistant manager, Aultman Carrollton Therapy. “During a power outage or elevator issue, those people may need to travel up 22 steps to evacuate the facility, which can be challenging. With the new Evac+Chair Power 800, we can transport them up the steps significantly easier and faster during an emergency.”

The evac chair is estimated to save up to 30 minutes during an emergency evacuation. Located at 1020 Trump Road NW, Aultman Carrollton provides imaging services, physical and occupational therapy, outpatient lab, cardiology, gynecology, orthopedics, podiatry, a fitness center and Aultman Orrville Carrollton Health Center.
