Renovations Begin as the Aultman Timken Family Cancer Center Takes Shape

CANTON, Ohio (Dec. 17, 2020) – On Dec. 14, the Timken Family Cancer Center began to take shape as Aultman commenced renovations to pave the way for construction in 2021.

“As cases of cancer continue to rise in our community, we are making a significant investment in the renovations to our Cancer Center, bringing patients, physicians, nurses and other clinical staff members together for their insights on the best design for our patients,” said Ed Roth, president and CEO, Aultman Health Foundation. “The Timken Family Cancer Center will bring all our cancer-related services together under one roof, enhancing the patient experience with seamless navigation to convenient, compassionate, high-quality care – all right here close to home.”

Hammond Construction will serve as construction manager for the project, which will ultimately create the $28 million, 58,270-square-foot comprehensive center for cancer-related services at Aultman Hospital. The current renovation will include 13,270 square feet of existing space, and the construction in spring/summer 2021 will add 45,000 square feet. When completed, the state-of-the-art facility will advance clinical care, improve patient experience and strengthen community services.

“We’re excited to be a part of this project and help Aultman treat some of the most vulnerable members of our community,” said John Kirkpatrick, partner at Hammond. “The Timken Family Cancer Center will be a beautiful addition to Aultman’s campus and a convenient location for Aultman’s patients.”

To date, 90% of the funding has been committed from many different sources. Aultman Health Foundation invested the first $10 million, the Women’s Board of Aultman raised more than $5 million and support has poured in from other leading local foundations, generous individuals, families and businesses. The Timken Family Cancer Center is named after the $3 million contribution made by the Timken Foundation.

“We believe in Aultman’s longstanding service to Stark County and its mission, and we understand the importance of having access to cancer care close to home,” said Jack Timken, president of the Timken Foundation’s board of trustees. “The new cancer center will benefit our entire community, and we are very proud to be a part of that.”

Aultman is currently inviting members of the community to contribute to the project and join the fight against cancer. To make a donation or learn more about Aultman’s Timken Family Cancer Center, call 330-363-4056 or go to aultman.org/TimkenFamilyCancerCenter.
