Ear, Nose and Throat (Otolaryngology) Specialists
Comprehensive care for ear, nose and throat (ENT) conditions
Specialists affiliated with Aultman deliver personalized ENT care for children and adults.
When you select an ENT specialist at Aultman, you're choosing a highly skilled doctor with extensive expertise in ear, nose and throat care.
ENT doctors, also called otolaryngologists, diagnose and treat conditions that affect your senses – hearing, smell and taste. These include:
- Acute ear infections
- Chronic ear infections
- Dizziness and vertigo
- Lumps in the neck
- Ringing in the ears
- Sleep apnea
- Sore throat and tonsillitis
- Stuffy nose
Your ENT specialist provides therapeutic and surgical treatments. Advanced surgical care includes treatments to correct ear, nose and throat abnormalities, biopsies of enlarged lumps in the neck and treatment of mouth, tongue and throat cancer.
Whenever possible, our experts use minimally invasive procedures and cutting-edge technology. For instance, we're treating obstructive sleep apnea using hypoglossal nerve stimulation.
Click each link below for more information about conditions that ENT specialists treat.
Collaborating closely with radiation and medical oncologists, Aultman offers patients the entire spectrum of treatment options – addressing each patient’s underlying condition while maximizing function and quality of life.
ENT specialists, supported by Aultman's state-of-the-art facilities, use the most advanced medical and surgical options to treat the following head and neck disorders:
- Endocrine cancers, including papillary thyroid carcinoma, follicular carcinoma and medullary carcinoma
- Head and neck cancers, including cancers of the oral cavity (tongue, lips and cheeks), oropharynx (tonsils and base of the tongue), larynx (voice box and throat) and nasopharynx (nasal cavity and skull base)

As an alternative to CPAP and traditional sleep surgery, Aultman experts offer hypoglossal nerve stimulator – a sleep apnea implant that detects your breathing and, with each breath, stimulates a nerve to help keep your airway open. Using a handheld device, you turn the implant on before going to bed and off when you wake up.
The eligibility criteria for hypoglossal nerve stimulator include:
- Having sleep apnea that's moderate to severe (not mild)
- Obstruction that occurs at the palate and/or base of the tongue
- BMI less than 35
Throat specialists use state-of-the art equipment and technology at Aultman to treat the following throat problems:
- Airway disorders due to trauma or damage to the larynx and/or trachea that impacts breathing
- Difficulty swallowing, also called dysphagia, when muscles and nerves in your throat aren't working correctly due to injury, inflammation, blockage and more
- Hoarseness caused by injury or chronic inflammation
- Laryngeal cancer
- Sinusitis
- Thyroid cancer
- Thyroid disorders, including overactive (hyperthyroidism) or underactive (hypothyroidism) thyroid gland, thyroid nodules and enlargement of the thyroid gland (goiter)
