Aultman Hospital Summer Volunteer Program

Are you a high school or college student who wants a meaningful experience in a hospital environment this summer? The Aultman Hospital summer student volunteer program is the perfect opportunity to make a difference in the community.
It is an eight-week commitment designed for students ages 16 to 22 who are ready to take responsibility and serve others. This year’s program will run from June 8 through July 31, 2026.
Volunteers serve in non-clinical roles that support patients, families and staff. You will gain real-world experience in professionalism, communication and reliability, skills that matter in any future career.
Note that this is not an internship or job shadowing program. Visit our Student Experiences page for internship and job shadowing opportunities.
Summer Student Volunteer Requirements
Students should be prepared for the following:
- Eight-week commitment
- Minimum of 32 total hours
- One four-hour shift per week
- Reliable weekly attendance (same day and time each week)
If you are interested, we must hear directly from you. Please submit the application below and contact Volunteer Services yourself if you have questions.
If school hours prevent you from calling, please email Lee Kenny at lee.kenny@aultman.com. Volunteering in a hospital requires independence and initiative, and we want to hear from you personally about your interests and availability.
Before You Apply
Please carefully review the statements below. We rely on students who are dependable and self-directed for this eight-week program.
You should apply only if you can honestly say:
- I can commit to eight consecutive weeks during the summer.
- I can complete a minimum of 32 hours, working one four-hour shift each week on the same day at the same time each weekday.
- I have reviewed my summer schedule, including vacations, sports, camps and job responsibilities, and I know I can attend consistently.
- I understand that if I miss shifts, it may prevent me from completing the program.
- I am willing to communicate directly with Volunteer Services myself.
- I am comfortable speaking with adults in a professional setting.
- I understand this is a service role, not an internship or shadowing opportunity.
- I am willing to accept direction, feedback and hospital policies.
If you are unsure about your availability or readiness, it may be best to apply in a future year when your schedule allows you to fully participate.
How to Apply
Click here to download the Aultman summer volunteer packet, then complete and return it by May 15, 2026.
Please contact Lee at lee.kenny@aultman.com in the Volunteer Services office directly for any questions.
