Aultman Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program
The Aultman Hospital/NEOMED Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program has been accredited by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) since 1946. Based at Aultman Hospital, the OB-GYN residency is a four-year program with five categorical positions per year.
The mission of the Aultman Hospital/NEOMED Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency Program is to improve women’s healthcare through training physicians in a safe clinical environment that embraces excellence in the delivery of equitable clinical care and education to enable successful mastery of competencies required for independent practice of obstetrics and gynecology.
The OB-GYN program has 35 attending physicians. Subspecialists consist of two in maternal fetal medicine, four in reproductive endocrinology infertility, one in gynecologic oncology, one in female pelvic medicine reconstructive surgery and one in surgery. The remaining members are practicing obstetricians and gynecologists who provide one-on-one teaching and coverage for labor and delivery, the operating room and ambulatory clinics.
The Aultman OB-GYN residency is busy, with 2,875 deliveries in 2021, many of which were classified as high risk. We also had 6,837 OB-GYN outpatient visits.
The Aultman Birth Center features 30 Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum (LDRP) suites and three state-of-the-art high-risk delivery suites. Aultman’s designation as the only Level III obstetrics site in our five-county service area means residents gain experience in both normal and complicated deliveries. The Akron Children’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Aultman Hospital, with 25 private rooms, is supported by an on-site staff of neonatologists.
I look forward to talking with you about the program.
Sincerely,
Jason Hoppe, D.O., MHPE
Program Director
