Program

The OB-GYN residency program’s curriculum focuses on providing residents with educational support, research opportunities, clinical experiences and exposure to an entire depth of obstetrics and gynecology to practice in any setting. Every patient admitted to our service is considered to be a teaching patient.

The OB-GYN program's starting PGY-3 residents typically have met their ACGME minimum cases, enabling them to assume a leadership role as an ACGME teaching assistant. From the first day of residency, PGY-1s gain hands-on learning experiences as they work directly with on-staff medical specialists.

Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED), located about 30 miles from Aultman, is our affiliate medical school. It has no teaching hospital but uses community hospitals. The OB-GYN residency program has M3 core clerkships all year and M4 electives August through December. Residents help with teaching both M3 and M4 students. Aultman OB-GYN residents are appointed as clinical instructors at NEOMED.

In addition to clinical experience, the OB-GYN residency program has an active didactic program that includes daily teaching rounds and a Wednesday journal club. Friday mornings are dedicated to education. Residents are given five professional education days along with an educational allowance.
