Aultman Emergency Medicine Residency Program
Welcome to the Aultman Emergency Medicine Residency website, a helpful, informative guide to everything you need to know about our distinguished residency. If you have questions that are not answered here, please contact us.
The Aultman Emergency Medicine Residency Program is a three-year program designed to prepare physicians for a career in emergency medicine. The program provides residents with the opportunity to build a knowledge base and equips them with the clinical skill set required for exceptional emergency care.
The emergency medicine residency program is affiliated with Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) and is accredited by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Aultman’s Emergency Department is a Level II Trauma Center, which evaluates and treats more than 75,000 patients per year. Upon completion of the Aultman Emergency Medicine Residency Program, residents are board eligible.
The leadership and faculty of the Aultman Emergency Medicine Residency Program offer decades of experience in emergency medicine residency education. We actively look for new and innovative strategies for our interactive curriculum, and we are seeking hard-working residents who wish to become leaders in emergency medicine – people who are excited about the opportunity to shape a relatively new program into the region’s premier emergency medicine program. I am confident that we will continue to train the very best emergency physicians – ones who can practice and thrive in any environment upon graduation.
Aultman Hospital is a 1,032-bed hospital system serving Stark and surrounding counties. Aultman Hospital has achieved many national awards, accolades and recognition for our outstanding clinical care. We are a resident-friendly setting that seeks to provide individualized resident educational goals within an outstanding overall experience. We work closely with our colleagues and residents in Family Medicine, OB-GYN, Internal Medicine, Radiology, Orthopaedics and Cardiology fellowships.
I hope that I will have the opportunity to meet and talk with you about the many opportunities we can provide.
Best regards,
Alison Southern, M.D., MS, FAAEM
Aultman Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director
