During his shifts at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital, volunteer Greg Linn sets out to brighten everyone’s day. Affectionately known as the “flower man,” Greg has served in discharge at the hospital three days per week since March 2023. He earned his nickname by buying a bouquet of flowers for a colleague or a patient as a random act of kindness on each day he volunteers.

Children walking into the hospital may have another name for Greg: “the man with the red nose.” Any time a child enters the hospital, Greg pulls a red clown nose out of his pocket and puts it on to make them smile.

Greg often stops at Sam’s Club to buy cookies for staff and patients. Sometimes he sets the sweet treats out in the Café with an anonymous kind message; at other times, he personally offers them to staff and patients passing by the front desk in the main lobby.

When asked why he was interested in volunteering at Aultman Alliance Community Hospital, Greg answered: “I want to be able to give back the love and concern that has been given to me all my life.”

Greg certainly has given back by making everyone feel cared for on his volunteer days.
