Meet Our New CEO: Rob Mullen
July 1 marked the official first day for Aultman Health System’s new president and CEO, Rob Mullen. To get to know our new leader, we asked Rob to share a little more about himself, both personally and professionally.
Tell us about your career.
I have been with AultCare and Aultman for 15 years. I’ve worked in leadership areas involving legal, risk management, strategy and value-based arrangements. In these roles, I have worked with our hospitals, physicians, college, the Integrated Health Collaborative and AultCare. Prior to working at Aultman, I worked 15 years for the U.S. House of Representatives.
What do you like best about working here?
I like how our health system is accountable to a community board made up of members who live, work and are committed to people we serve. I also like that we are a diverse and comprehensive health system with a team of 7,000 plus colleagues, over 1,000 physicians and advanced practice providers, over 250 students and over 100,000 enrollees working across our region. I look forward to the success our system will achieve as we continue to work together to put our patients, enrollees and students at the center of everything we do. We’ve been here for over 130 years, growing and evolving for our community.
What are you most excited about in this new role?
I am most excited to work with our team as we guide our health system to meet its mission of service to our community. Also, I’m very excited to see the success our system will achieve as we continue to work together to put our patients, enrollees and students at the center of everything we do. We’ve been here for over 130 years, growing and evolving for our community.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up north of Canal Fulton. Except for college, I have lived in the area my entire life. I attended college in Washington, D.C. and obtained my law degree from the University of Akron.
Tell us about your family.
My wife and I live in Jackson Township and raised our two sons in the area. They both are now pursuing post-graduate work and schooling in the healthcare field.
What are your hobbies/interests outside of work?
I enjoy reading history books, especially biographies. I like visiting my sons in southern Ohio. My wife and I also enjoy trying out restaurants across northeast Ohio.
What is your favorite sports team?
My favorite sports team is the Cleveland Browns.
What is your favorite quote?
“The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself” - Franklin D. Roosevelt
If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be?
I would love to visit Normandy, France.
What book have you recently read?
“Eisenhower in War and Peace” by Jean Edward Smith.
