2025 Class Inducted into the Aultman Hippocrates Honor Society

CANTON, Ohio (Sept. 25, 2025) – Aultman recently honored three local physicians with induction into the Hippocrates Honor Society. This “lifetime achievement” award, created by the Aultman Medical Staff, recognizes physicians who exemplify the qualities of excellence, compassion, integrity and leadership. Congratulations to the 2025 Hippocrates Honor Society inductees:

Nihad Boutros, M.D., Critical Care, Pulmonary Medicine

Dr. Boutros serves as medical director of the clinical care program at Aultman Hospital and medical director of clinical strategy for AultCare.

He earned his medical degree from Damascus University and completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Luke’s Medical Center. Dr. Boutros completed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine at the University of Missouri Medical Center in 1998, as well as a fellowship in critical care medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in 1999. He is board certified in pulmonary disease and critical care medicine.

Dr. Boutros joined the medical staff of Aultman Hospital in 2003 and the medical staff of Aultman Orrville Hospital (AOH) in 2020.

He stepped into leadership roles soon after joining Aultman, becoming a member of the Respiratory Therapy Committee in 2004. He has served on numerous medical staff committees since that time, including as chair of the Coordination of Critical Care Committee and the Critical Care Performance Improvement Committee.

In his leadership roles, Dr. Boutros has been instrumental in improving care coordination and patient outcomes in the Aultman Hospital intensive care units. He received a Physician Leadership Award in 2004 and a Keys to Success Award in 2020.

Duane Kuentz, M.D., Family Medicine

Dr. Kuentz is a physician with Aultman Alliance Family Medicine of AOH. He earned his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed his residency at West Suburban Medical Center. Dr. Kuentz has spent his 48-year medical career serving Alliance and surrounding communities.

He joined the Aultman Alliance Community Hospital (AACH) medical staff in 1980 and the AOH medical staff in 2023.

As a member of the AACH medical staff, Dr. Kuentz was president of Alliance Health Partners from 1998 – 2022. He also served as the department chair of medicine and a member of the Hospital Medical Executive Committee.

He has served on the boards of Aultman Alliance Community Hospital, Aultman Alliance Community Hospital Medical Foundation and Alliance Citizens Health Association.

Dr. Kuentz is known for his devotion to the community. As the West Branch team physician during the meningitis outbreak of 2001, he played a key role in helping to calm the community and prevent the disease from spreading further.

He’s received several awards recognizing his dedication to patients and to the healthcare profession, including the AACH Colleague Excellence Award in 2014 and the Planetree Excellence Award in 2015 and 2018.

David Mallamaci, M.D., Family Medicine

Dr. Mallamaci earned his medical degree from Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED). He began his association with Aultman Hospital in 1997 as a resident in the Family Medicine program. He joined a local professional practice in 2000 after completing his residency. He is board certified in family medicine.

Dr. Mallamaci continued his involvement in medical education after residency, serving as an associate clinical instructor of family medicine at NEOMED in 1999 and on NEOMED’s Family Practice Advising Program. He has also been a member of the Obstetrics and Curriculum committees of the Aultman Family Medicine Residency Program.

He joined the Aultman Hospital medical staff in 2000, taking on key leadership roles. Dr. Mallamaci has been a member of the Aultman Hospital Medical Executive Committee, the Credentials Committee and the Information Technology Committee. From 2015 – 2023, he was the department chair of Community Medicine at Aultman Hospital.

Beyond his medical practice, he has given back to the community as a volunteer swim coach, a member of the North Canton Educational Endowment Committee and a trustee for TRIO (Transplant Recipients International Organization).

Nomination guidelines for the award include 10 years of practice as a physician, 10 years of service at Aultman Hospital, civic and community involvement, local or national medical society involvement and professional accomplishments.
