2018 Angel Auction Chairs, Theme Announced

CANTON, Ohio (Feb. 1, 2018) – Join the Aultman Women’s Board for a safari through the plains of Africa during the 2018 Angel Auction, “Splendors of the Serengeti.” Stark County’s premier charitable auction and event will be held Friday, May 11, at the Canton Civic Center.

All proceeds from the 49th annual gala will benefit the current Women’s Board pledge of $900,000 for two important hospital projects. One is integrating state-of-the-art infection control technology throughout the Aultman campus, and the second is renovating the Aultman orthopaedic unit.

Jennifer Clark of Jackson Township and Ann McCabe of North Canton are leading the efforts for the event this year as auction co-chairs.

Jennifer has been a Women’s Board member since 2009. She is married to William Clark, and they have two teenage sons, Jaxon and Lucas. Originally from the Akron area, Jennifer moved to Jackson Township after she graduated from the University of Akron with her BSN.

In addition to the Women’s Board of Aultman Hospital, Jennifer has been involved in several local organizations by volunteering her time and participating in fundraising efforts. These organizations include Crosspoint United Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels of Stark and Wayne County, JRC Learning Center, Shared Blessings, Refuge of Hope, Stark County Library, Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health and PTAs.

Jennifer is passionate about her role in the Angel Auction. “Aultman Hospital is a very special place and means a great deal to my family. I began my career at Aultman as an emergency room registered nurse. I was impressed with the level of care and dedication of the administration and staff who I worked with on a daily basis,” she said. “The extraordinary patient-centered approach at Aultman stretched across the hospital to the labor and delivery unit and into the NICU; both of my sons, who were born prematurely, spent the beginning of their lives there. I am truly honored to work closely with Ann and the compassionate women who serve on the Women’s Board. To be included in this group of talented women who give so much of themselves to make our community a better place is truly a blessing to me.”

Ann has been a member of the Women’s Board since 2003. She is married to Michael McCabe and has four adult children, Melanie, Mary, Ben and Michael. Ann graduated from Kent State University and has spent most of her career in the pharmaceutical industry. Her background and love of marketing has evolved into event planning for various Stark County community organizations.

In addition to co-chairing this year’s Angel Auction 2018, she has also chaired the main fundraising events for Meals on Wheels of Stark and Wayne counties, Child & Adolescent Behavior Health and the Strikers Youth Soccer Organization. Ann has also served as a committee member for other community organizations such as JRC Learning Center, Shared Blessings and multiple school organization committees.

“I feel honored to be chosen, along with Jennifer, as chair for this magnificent event,” she said. “It is amazing to witness the generosity of so many people in the community who support our event and Aultman Hospital.”

She is equally ecstatic about the commitment from the women who help to make this event a reality. “I believe that our women are some of the smartest, most generous and talented women that you will ever meet,” Ann said. “Although it sometimes seems like a full-time job, it has been my greatest pleasure so far giving my time to planning this event with Jen and our Women’s Board.”

The annual Angel Auction includes fabulous live entertainment, delicious catered dinner, raffle prizes and hundreds of exclusive live and silent auction items. There are two exciting raffle prizes available this year – each with something for him and something for her.

The first raffle package features a 10-piece Yeti package including Tundra 65 and Hopper Flip 12 coolers, Colsters, Tumblers and more, paired with the "Atlas Petite" handbag and "Finley" wristlet designed by Cleveland-based Fount Leather. The second package features a Simon G 18-karat white gold pave diamond bracelet paired with a Samsung 65” Smart 4k UHD TV. Tickets for the raffle are $100 each and are limited to 125 for each package.
