Sleep Center

IMG 3576re sleep

The Aultman Sleep Center specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep-related disorders. We began offering services for sleep disorders in 1998, and we conduct more than 1,000 sleep studies each year.

The Aultman Sleep Center offers:

  • Specially trained physicians and technicians who work closely with your referring physician to conduct and evaluate prescribed sleep studies
  • Sleep rooms that provide a comfortable, hotel-like atmosphere and feature full beds, TVs and private restrooms
  • Sleep disorders are characterized by excessive daytime sleepiness, difficulty in falling asleep or remaining asleep, unusually loud snoring or other abnormal symptoms that emerge or worsen during sleep. Sleep problems that go untreated can lead to more serious complications, such as high blood pressure and abnormal heart rhythm.

What to Expect:

  • You will arrive at the Aultman Sleep Center at 9 p.m. on your appointment date.
  • Once you are settled into your sleep room, you will be hooked up to start a polysomnogram. This is a recording that contains several types of measurements used to identify different sleep stages and classify various sleep problems.
  • Your brain waves, heart rhythm, breathing patterns, body movements and oxygen levels will be monitored by applying small metal discs called electrodes on various parts your body. The procedure is painless and noninvasive.
  • You may watch TV, listen to music or read until your study begins.
  • Our goal is to monitor your sleep activities from 11 p.m. until 6 a.m.
  • The technical equipment and sleep technician are in an area separate from your sleeping room.
  • The sleep technician is available to assist you with anything you need.
  • Your doctor will receive the results of your sleep study.

Ask your personal physician about a sleep study at the Aultman Sleep Center, and call Aultman Central Scheduling at 330-363-6288 to make an appointment. If you don't have a personal physician, call the Aultman Sleep Center at 330-305-6976 for more information.
