Magnetic Resonance Imaging

MRI is one of the safest, most comfortable imagining techniques available.

High-field Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) at Aultman Health System has advanced technology that produces the highest-quality image in the shortest time.

MRI combines a powerful magnet with an advanced computer system and radio waves to produce accurate, detailed images of the organs and tissues in order to diagnose medical conditions. An MRI is a non-invasive, painless imaging scan that differs from X-rays and CT scans by not using potentially harmful ionizing radiation.

Aultman Health System is equipped with advanced MRI technology.

The short-bore, open-ended High-field MRI is a new, state-of-the-art piece of equipment that accommodates different types of patients and their needs.

  • Designed with patient comfort in mind
  • Allows large and claustrophobic patients to receive imaging that traditional MRI systems do not accommodate

MRI scans are used to identify anomalies, tumors and cysts in various parts of the body. MRI exams can also be used for breast cancer screening, joint injuries, heart problems, organ diseases and other internal pain or injuries. Patients will sometimes receive an intravenous (IV) contrast to improve the visibility of a particular tissue during the scan. Often patients are provided with blankets and other materials to keep the procedure as comfortable as possible. There are multiple options for listening to music while the MRI scan is performed.

What you can expect during an MRI:

Since an MRI uses magnets for imaging, patients must remove any metal jewelry or accessories that may interfere with the machine. A person with metal inside their body will probably be unable to have an MRI exam.
