Compassionate Care Center

The Aultman Women's Board Compassionate Care Center is Stark County’s only free-standing, inpatient hospice facility. This beautiful facility was built through the Aultman Women’s Board vision to meet the unmet needs of hospice patients who need inpatient end-of-life care. Through their fundraising and private donations, this state-of-the-art facility was opened in October 2011.

Located on the Woodlawn campus, the Compassionate Care Center is utilized by our hospice patients served out of our Canton location who need 24-hour monitoring by our trained staff. At times throughout the disease process, our hospice patients may experience increased pain, shortness of breath or other symptoms that need 24-hour care by our nurses and physicians until the symptoms are under control and the patient is able to return to wherever they call home. Our primary goal at the Compassionate Care Center is to assure that each of our patients has relief from symptoms associated with their disease process so they can be made as comfortable as possible.

Admission to our Compassionate Care Center begins with our hospice physicians. They assess the patient and determine if inpatient hospice is appropriate based on guidelines set forth by Medicare for admission into an inpatient hospice facility. Medicare also provides for occasional respite stays up to five days when the caregiver needs a break. The Canton branch of Aultman Hospice utilizes the Compassionate Care Center for such respite stays.
