The DAISY Award® for Extraordinary Nurses

The DAISY Award® is an international, ongoing recognition program for nurses who demonstrate extraordinary, compassionate care. It is currently active in more than 4,000 healthcare facilities around the world. The award was established by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 from complications of an auto-immune disease. During his hospitalization, his family deeply appreciated the clinical skill and enormous compassion shown by the nurses who took care of him. They felt compelled to thank nurses in a personal way, so they created this award to thank nurses everywhere.

Designed to honor RNs, LPNs and APNs, award nominations come mostly from patients and families, but can also come from colleagues, physicians and other staff. Every nomination tells a story and highlights the exemplary care provided to our patients. We are excited to host this new recognition program at Aultman’s main campus.
