Aultman Volunteer Services is proud to offer the Happy Tails animal-assisted activity program. This program allows certified therapy dogs and their handlers to bring comfort and joy to hospitalized patients.

Steps to Join the Happy Tails Program

1. Complete the Therapy Animal Handler Course
Enroll online at PetPartners.org. This course will help prepare you and your dog for therapy visits. You will need to create an account and begin the training at the "Become a Pet Therapy Team" section of the Pet Partners website.

2. Obtain Veterinary Clearance
Have your veterinarian complete the Animal Health Screening Form, which is available in your Pet Partners registration portal. This confirms your dog is in good health.

3. Schedule Your Team Evaluation
Use the Event Calendar or Evaluator Directory in the Pet Partners Volunteer Center to find a certified evaluator near you and schedule your team evaluation.

4. Submit Registration and Pay Fees
Complete the registration process at PetPartners.org. The registration fee includes liability insurance, a background check, access to continuing education, and staff support.

5. Apply to Volunteer at Aultman Hospital
Submit your application at aultman.org/volunteer.

The Happy Tails application process can take up to six weeks to complete. Failure to pass or complete any requirement in the application and orientation process will result in the application being denied.

• If you and your dog meet our specifications, please complete the Prospective Happy Tails Volunteer Form.
