About Us

The Aultman/Cleveland Clinic Mercy/NEOMED Radiology Residency Program is based in Canton's two largest hospitals, Aultman Hospital and Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital, and is affiliated with Akron Children's Hospital. It is a fully accredited, four-year training program.

Aultman Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Mercy Hospital and Akron Children's Hospital serve a multiple-county referral area in Northeast Ohio, providing residents with exposure to a wide range of medical conditions. Excellent teaching facilities and state-of-the-art imaging instrumentation provide an ideal environment for graduate medical education at all three hospitals.

Full-time diagnostic radiologists and radiation biophysicists participate in our Radiology Residency Program in Canton. These physicians are committed to the advancement of radiology education and the radiology specialty. Our staff have faculty appointments at NEOMED and are all board certified. Most radiologists have an interest in subspecialty areas and have passed special competency exams in these areas. Others are involved in professional medical and radiology organizations at the local, state and national levels.

The post-graduate training in diagnostic radiology is arranged in an integrated fashion to take advantage of the strengths of the faculty and the practice patterns at each of the supporting hospitals. Four months of instruction are conducted at Akron Children's Hospital. In addition, each resident attends a four-week training course at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, D.C. Research is encouraged. Residents participate in faculty-guided clinical research and learn to prepare manuscripts for publication. Annual Resident Research Days are sponsored by Aultman Hospital.

The diagnostic radiology curriculum is carefully designed to give a balanced and orderly pattern of instruction throughout the four years of training. Daily intradepartmental lectures or conferences supplement the scheduled curriculum. The format of the conferences is varied and includes didactic core lecture presentations, faculty-run interesting case conferences, resident/staff-moderated hot-seat conferences, subspecialty conferences and journal club presentations. Other local or regional lectures provide additional learning opportunities. There are four positions available in the Diagnostic Radiology Residency Program each year.
