Jay Hoppe, D.O., MHPE, has served in residency leadership since 2016, first as the associate program director/clinical clerkship director and now as the residency program director. He is committed to providing full-scope training in obstetrics and gynecology with the highest standards of excellence and innovation in teaching and clinical care. Dr. Hoppe is an educator who strives to teach with an intuitive and engaging approach. He is committed to mentoring and maintaining a supportive learning environment for his residents. Dr. Hoppe is dedicated to promoting and maintaining training for the full scope of obstetrics and gynecology. He has won several teaching awards for his dedication to medical students and residents’ needs.

Dr. Hoppe, born and raised in Iowa, attended Des Moines University College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. Dr. Hoppe completed his OB-GYN residency training at the Aultman/NEOMED residency program in 2008. After graduation, he entered private practice while maintaining a highly active role in teaching as a part of the core faculty. His clinical interests include complex minimally invasive gynecology and obstetrics. Dr. Hoppe assumed the role of associate program director in 2016.

After working in this role, Dr. Hoppe became more interested in education and earned a master’s degree in health professions education from the University of Missouri – Kansas City.
Outside of work, Dr. Hoppe values his family time and is often found cheering at local cross-country meets, tennis matches and pole-vaulting events in which his two sons participate. He has been married for 23 years to his wife, Laurie, who helps maintain balance and calm in Dr. Hoppe’s life. He truly values his life outside of the hospital and strives to help those who train with him develop those habits too.
