I did an audition rotation at the Aultman residency program as an M4. Throughout my rotation, the culture of family really stood out to me. Family has always played a major role in my life. I knew I would be moving across the country for residency, as there weren't any residency programs near my hometown. The warmth and support evident in Aultman Emergency Medicine Residency Program made it a top choice. When I was an M4 student, the residents expressed interest in learning about me and my background, and the attendings frequently went out of their way to give me the best learning experiences. In addition, the organization and delivery of material both on shift and during didactics was the best I had experienced throughout my rotations and experience in multiple emergency departments. This was my top choice for residency, and it would remain my top choice to this day.
The Aultman Emergency Medicine Residency Program’s culture is built on family and forming lifelong friendships and mentors. My class has grown together through the challenges of residency, and we have formed lasting friendships. The faculty and attendings care that you become a fantastic Emergency Medicine physician, as well as a leader in your community. They genuinely are concerned for our well-being, and they check in on us and our families on almost every shift. While on shift, I have every opportunity to learn, do procedures and run the pod.
