Volunteer Spotlight: Joann Bagent
At Aultman, our volunteers are just one of the many groups that have helped us to lead our community to improved health. Today, we’d like to introduce you to one of the dedicated volunteers of our Aultman Orrville Auxiliary – Joann Bagent.
Where do you live (city/area)?
I have lived in Canton South for my entire life. I was born at home, and I graduated from Canton South in 1947.
When did you begin volunteering at Aultman Health Foundation?
I began volunteering in 2007 – 12 years ago.
In what department do you volunteer?
I am a greeter every Friday morning in the main lobby.
How did you decide to be a volunteer?
After my husband passed away in 2007, a friend of mine suggested I become a volunteer at Aultman.
What do you like best about volunteering?
I love meeting people. I especially enjoy taking flowers to the patient rooms – I hope that I can brighten a person’s day.
What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of volunteering at Aultman?
On Tuesdays, I volunteer at my church’s clothing cupboard. I also am a member and volunteer for the AARP. I enjoy time with my kids. We go out to eat every Friday as a family.
Tell us about your loved ones.
My husband passed away in 2007. We have three children – two daughters and one son. I also have seven grandkids and 14 great grandchildren.
Tell us something interesting about yourself that many of your friends may not know.
Even though I am 90 years old, I still drive a tractor. I mow and weed the 20 acres of land around my home.
