I was born in Mansfield, lived in Florida for two years and have been in Orrville for 45 years.

When did you begin volunteering at Aultman Health Foundation?
I began volunteering at Aultman Orrville on Aug. 15, 2013.

In what departments do you volunteer at Aultman Orrville Hospital?
I volunteer in Registration and assist throughout the lobby.

How did you decide to be a volunteer?
I was looking for an activity. My career was in sales, and I love being around people. This was a great fit because my mom and sister were both nurses, my dad was engaged in the pharmacy business, and it has given me a close connection to the medical field. I really like the atmosphere here.

What do you like best about volunteering?
People. I experience all different kinds of personalities, and I’m regularly challenged while assisting our visitors. I feel a lot of pride and satisfaction when I am able to soothe and reassure them.

What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of volunteering?
I spend a lot of time with my grandchildren!

Tell us about your loved ones.
I have been married for 43 years, and we have three children and five grandchildren. They keep my wife and I busy with their sporting events and activities!

Tell us something interesting about yourself that many of your friends do not know.
I realized through the years how people are all connected. I run into a familiar person wherever I go. I believe there are no strangers. I also appreciate how everyone is different which makes life unique.
