At Aultman, our volunteers are just one of the many groups that have helped us to lead our community to improved health. Today, we'd like to introduce you to one of our dedicated volunteers - Emma Schillig. 

Where do you live (city/area)?

I live in Louisville. I am a junior at St. Thomas Aquinas High School, but I also take CCP courses at both Walsh and Stark State.

When did you begin volunteering at Aultman Health Foundation?

I started volunteering at Aultman Hospital just this past summer.

In what department do you volunteer?

I work in the Center for Professional Development and Education. I assemble binders, enter data into their online records and do other desk work.

How did you decide to be a volunteer?

I’m considering a career in nursing, so I wanted to get some experience in the hospital before I make any college decisions.

What do you like best about volunteering?

I work with a lot of nice people that happen to be nurses, and they are always eager to answer my questions and give advice about my potential nursing career.

What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of volunteering?

When I’m not volunteering, I enjoy visiting new restaurants and coffee shops, being outdoors and spending time with friends and family. I also run for my high school cross country team.

Tell us about your loved ones.

My parents are Chris and Kristy, and I have a brother, Jacob, who attends Youngstown State University. My grandparents live locally, so I see them a lot, too.

Tell us something interesting about yourself that many of your friends may not know.

I absolutely love watching movies – no matter what kind. Whether at the theater or just on TV, I am always down to watch a good movie!
