Honoring Aultman College Educators
Chances are that even decades later, you can remember the name of a teacher who made a difference in your life and made learning exciting. This week, in honor of National Teacher Appreciation Week, Aultman College students wrote about their favorite professors and what makes them special.
According to students in the college’s nursing, radiography, social work, medical assisting and health sciences programs, these are the qualities that make an outstanding educator.
Inspirational
“Dr. Riley is my favorite teacher because he inspires me to open my mind. He creates a safe environment in his classroom that fosters learning and growth. He teaches in a way that captivates you and makes you want to know more about whatever he is teaching. He truly cares about the education of his students and makes it abundantly clear. He wants you to ask questions; he wants you to be curious. I come into class 45 minutes early every single time we have class. Before I even walk into the classroom, Dr. Riley is in there writing down the lesson on the board … Being able to build a connection with a professor and know that they have your back is something I don't believe you can get at any other school, at least not to the extent that it happens at Aultman. Dr. Riley has taught me so much more than anatomy and physiology; he's taught me to open my mind and how to love learning.”
– Lucas Blankenship
Caring
“My favorite teacher is Dr. Russo because she is kind, helpful and just wants to help us succeed in school. She is also funny and has great ways to help us remember the material.”
– Kathleen Morrow
“Professor Rohm really cares about her students. She is very relatable. She keeps her class organized and up to date to reduce school stress.”
– Emily Krause
A Skilled Communicator
“Dr. Cherokee Russo makes information easy to remember.”
– Laura Smith
“My favorite teacher is Dr. Russo. She is so passionate about what she teaches and helps make sure you understand what she is teaching. She is helpful in every way and has helped me to better understand anatomy and physiology. When I would go to open labs, she would not only help me learn anatomy and physiology, but she would also get personal and open up, which I really appreciated. It helps me realize my teachers are more than just teachers; they are real people.”
– Justina Dies
An Advocate for Students
“Professor Wiley is amazing! A great advocator for her students, she changes her style of teaching to suit what is best for her students.”
– Abigail Hostetler
“Professor Mbobi is genuine and wants what is best for his students. He makes learning math fun.”
– Lauren Wilson
“Professor Milbrodt is amazing! She’s efficient in answering emails, supportive and advocates for her students. Her work does not go unnoticed.”
– Aubrie Helman
