“On Wednesday evening (1/25), my 93-year-old mother was brought to the ER due to the house doctor at Canton Christian Home discovering some problems with her blood work. We were in the ER from 5 p.m. till about 1:30 a.m. Thursday when we finally went up to the floor. During her stay in the ER one nurse was a complete standout in terms of care and what I can only call "customer service".

Our nurse was very aware that we were being made to wait a long time. She did all she could to move things along and to make our stay comfortable. She was exceptionally patient with my mother and cared for her needs in a professional and friendly way. She was never without a smile. She kept us informed and explained things slowly and carefully. During the long hours waiting for test results and contacting the family doctor she periodically checked in and never gave an impression of being bothered or hassled. She made it very clear that our welfare was job one.

During the process of setting up a blood transfusion, she had help from another nurse. She was very careful to explain to her colleague how she wanted things done and took time to show her partner how to make sure the paper work was completed properly without being condescending. She showed that she really cared about "getting it right the first time". Even on the trip up to the room at 1:30 a.m. she was cheerful, making friendly conversation, and made a point to wish my mother and myself well when she turned us over to the floor personnel.

I know people often complain about care and seldom compliment good care. That nurse is the type of young lady who should be commended and pointed to as an example of how to do the job well. I have been in some sort of customer service job for over 40 years and I know good people when I see them – she is a keeper!”
