Sunny Days for the Simmons
In addition to her role as a team assistant in the Discharge Services/Care Coordination Department, Audrey Capestrain and her husband own a local concrete and masonry company. Through their business, Concrete Designs by Audrey, Inc., the couple recently collaborated with Patios for Patriots to give a local Aultman neighbor a complete patio makeover.
Incorporated right here in Ohio, Patios for Patriots is a nonprofit company dedicated to serving the brave men and women veterans of our country. Their mission is to make veterans feel appreciated by providing them with a backyard patio makeover - giving a little to those who've given their all! Patios for Patriots works with local companies to design and construct concrete patios for veterans’ homes. It is a way of saying thanks and giving back to those who selflessly give of themselves through serving our country.
The Capestrains recently finished work on a complete patio makeover, which they donated to a very special couple right here in the Aultman neighborhood. James Simmons is a 93-year-old World War II veteran who served in England, Belgium and France, including Normandy, during his duty. He has received several awards and medals for his service in the U.S. Army. During Simmons’ time in the war, he served under the command of notable General Douglas McArthur and General George S. Patton.
Simmons now resides right here in Canton, very close to the Aultman campus, with his wife, who is a former Aultman employee. They were thrilled to be the recipients of the patio makeover and the Capestrains were equally as thrilled to show their appreciation for Simmons and his service to our country. Thanks to Concrete Designs by Audrey and Patios for Patriots, Mr. and Mrs. Simmons will spend their summer sitting outside and enjoying the sunshine together!
Learn more about Simmons and his military service in the video below!
