Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood. This translates to about 36,000 units of blood needed each day. And each year, about four million Americans need blood transfusions. These might be surgery patients, accident victims, premature babies or cancer patients. Want to help?

Give the lifesaving gift of blood during National Blood Donor Month! Your single blood donation can save up to 3 lives. If you are at least 17 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and are in good health, you can donate. Start to make lifesaving a habit and become a regular blood donor!

According to the American Association of Blood Banks, nearly 7 million volunteers are blood donors each year. Those volunteers donate about 13.6 million units of blood per year, helping to save millions of lives.

To join in the fight and help save even more lives, stop by the next LifeShare blood drive, taking place right here at Aultman Hospital on Monday, Jan. 30. The drive will be held in the Morrow House Auditorium from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
