Bob Stowe loved cars. So when his family and closest friends sought a way for the community to honor Bob’s memory after he passed away in March, they chose a cruise-in fundraiser. The event, held Aug. 20 at the Almost Home Event Center in Sebring, raised $4,100 for Aultman Hospice.

The Bob Stowe Memorial Cruise-In was organized by Bob’s friends, Scott and Tonya Dean; his wife, Carolyn Stowe; and daughters, Courtney and Katie Stowe. It featured 54 cars, as well as food, prizes, raffles, music and more. More than 400 people attended the event.

Carolyn said that Bob’s family and friends appreciated the care he received from Aultman Hospice staff at the Alliance location, particularly Dr. Debra Lehrer. “Hospice was wonderful and comforting with Bob, and we love Dr. Lehrer,” Carolyn said. “We wanted to recognize them.”

Carolyn, Scott and Tonya hope the community’s gift honors and blesses families facing challenges like those Bob and his family faced during his illness.

According to Dr. Lehrer, the event exemplifies the generosity of members of the Alliance and Sebring communities. “What a blessing for our community to have people who reach out and give back. We are blessed to have so many giving people who came together for this event,” she said.

Tonya owns Almost Home Event Center, and the Deans operate Dean’s Funeral Home in Sebring. They plan to hold The Bob Stowe Memorial Cruise-In annually.
