Be an Angel: The Women’s Board of Aultman Hospital
Aug. 22 is Be an Angel Day, an observance to promote acts of kindness. This is the perfect opportunity to spotlight some of the “angels” who have done so much to support our patients, families and caregivers: the more than 260 members who make up The Women’s Board of Aultman Hospital.
The Women’s Board was founded in 1969 to render services to Aultman Hospital in the areas of community relations and fundraising. The mission of the Women’s Board is to lead our community to improved health by providing volunteer services to Aultman Hospital through fundraising and community engagement.
To date, the members have raised more than $30 million to support vital projects at Aultman Hospital, including the Emergency/Trauma Center, Aultman College of Nursing and Health Sciences, Aultman Women’s Board Compassionate Care Center, The Shoppes at Aultman and Aultman’s Timken Family Cancer Center.
The Women's Board's signature fundraising events are the annual Angel Auction and Angels on the Runway Fashion Show. The term “angel” was selected for many of the Women’s Board initiatives because it symbolizes the generous souls within our community whose unwavering support uplifts and transforms lives.
The Angel Auction serves as the Women’s Board’s primary fundraising event, having raised more than $16.5 million since 1970 for projects chosen by members. The Fashion Show benefits the Compassionate Care Center and Grief Services. Alongside these events, the Women’s Board manages various ongoing programs that not only generate revenue, but also provide valuable services, including the tribute fund, newborn photos at Aultman Hospital and The Shoppes at Aultman.
Through these initiatives and other ongoing projects, the Women’s Board remains steadfast in its commitment to support Aultman Hospital by raising funds and strengthening community relations.
