Chia Seeds

Recipe: Chia Jam

Today, we’re celebrating National Chia Day with a simple and delicious jam recipe.

Packed with fiber, protein, omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and other beneficial vitamins and minerals, chia seeds are a “superfood” worth adding to your diet.

This no-sugar added jam adds a sweet touch to your favorite foods – and it’s good for your health.

INGREDIENTS

  • ½ cup unsweetened mixed frozen berries

  • 2 teaspoons chia seeds

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Place ½ cup of berries in a microwave safe bowl.

  2. Microwave on high for 30 seconds.

  3. Lightly mash the berries while stirring.

  4. Microwave on high for 30 seconds more.

  5. Stir in 2 teaspoons chia seeds.

  6. Let mixture stand until all liquid is absorbed. After about 5 minutes, the mixture should have a jammy texture.

The chia jam can be stored in the refrigerator up to five days.

Makes 5 servings.
