Make a Healthier Easter Basket
Are you looking for fun and festive Easter basket ideas – without the sugar rush? Instead of sugar- and fat-laden foods, try making themed baskets tailored to each child’s unique interests. With a little creativity, you can fill your kids’ Easter baskets with goodies they’ll use year-round that won’t harm their health.
Here are just a few ideas to get you started.
-
Sports: Look for items related to your child’s favorite sport, from trivia books to stickers to action figures.
-
Music: For younger children, select easy-to-play instruments such as a toy xylophone and a recorder, along with toy microphones and other accessories. Whether an older child is a musician or simply enjoys listening to music, they will appreciate a basket of music-related gifts.
-
Art: For your creative child, choose age-appropriate art supplies such as sidewalk chalk, color pencils, watercolors, sketchpads and other items that suit their style.
-
Crafts: Many retailers sell craft kits that are suitable for a wide range of ages and interests, from jewelry to paper crafts to headbands and more.
-
Characters: Fill your child’s basket with toys, games, cards, books and clothing related to their favorite fictional character or superhero.
-
Games: Pocket-sized games are perfect for Easter baskets, fun for the whole family and ideal for road trips. From card games to miniature versions of popular board games, there are plenty of options to choose from.
-
Reading: For an avid reader, a basket of books and accessories, such as a cozy blanket, booklight, journal and bookmarks may be the perfect treat.
-
Gardening: Hats, gardening gloves, seeds, small gardening tools, a mini watering can, potted flowers, a book about gardening and other related items will be a hit with kids who love to nurture plants.
-
Summer fun: New pool toys, a beach towel, sunglasses, beach balls, toy shovels and plastic buckets will prepare your kids for the warm days ahead.
-
Vacation: Planning a trip? Fill your child’s basket with fun and useful items related to the destination that will get them excited about your family’s travels.
Potential themes are as unique as each child. Once you choose a theme, it’s fun and easy to fill each child’s basket with healthy alternatives.
Looking for other ideas? Here are a few non-food items that kids will love:
-
Gift cards that suit your child’s interests, such as online gaming, music, e-books or restaurants.
-
Fun themed socks with character, sports team or favorite animal designs.
-
Key chains to suit your child’s personality.
-
Upgraded versions of school supplies, such as themed pencils, pens and erasers.
-
Glow sticks and bracelets.
-
Personal care products such as flavored lip balm, scented hand cream and bubble bath.
