Each fall, Aultman hosts the Points of Caring event to honor outstanding patient caregivers. The Points of Caring award spotlights Aultman's best of the best. Anyone at Aultman can nominate a co-worker, team, employee or manager for the award. Each nominee should exemplify each component of the five "points of caring." These outstanding qualities include compassion, customer service, clinical participation, commitment and community involvement.

There are a total of seven Points of Caring awards given out each year in the following categories: one student from Aultman College, one individual nurse, one non-nursing staff member, one preceptor, one nurse manager, one health professional manager and one group.

This year’s Points of Caring dinner event was held Wednesday, Oct. 19 at LaPizzaria. In addition to the presentation of the seven Points of Caring awards, three scholarship recipients were honored and two guest speakers shared their stories with attendees. In addition, two nurses were recognized for 50 years of service to Aultman.

Congratulations to the three scholarship winners:

• Individual nurse award: Lori Shaffner, RN, CTTS
• Individual award: Amy Horn, PT, DPT, GCS
• Nursing manager award: Sandy Bogner, BSN, RN, CCRN
• Manager award: Kim Masters, CRA
• Preceptor award: April Bolyard, BSN, RN
• Student award: Courtney Birchler
• 50-year award recipients: Erika Agnes, RN and Linda Brown, RN, CLTC
