At Aultman, our volunteers are just one of the many groups that have helped us to lead our community to improved health over the last 125 years. Today, we'd like to introduce you to one of our dedicated volunteens - Alivia Au. 

Where do you live?

I am from Canton and live in Plain Township. I am a junior at GlenOak High School.

When did you begin volunteering at Aultman Health Foundation?

I became a volunteen two years ago. I absolutely loved my first experience and decided to continue in the program.

In what department do you volunteer?

In the past, I volunteered in MICU, same-day Surgery, 6 North and 6 South. I currently work in the inpatient pharmacy and I really enjoy it.

How did you decide to be a volunteer?

I attended Camp Scrubs a few years ago where I was exposed to the medical field, and loved it! A friend, who is a nurse at Aultman, told me about the volunteen program and I decided to give it a try.

What do you like best about volunteering?

I love the people that I work with. Everyone that I have met has been very welcoming. Plus, I enjoy learning about anything medical.

What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of volunteering?

On the weekends, I enjoy fishing. During the summer, I attend country concerts and coach a little league cheer team. I love watching college football and motor cross races and spending time with my family.

Tell us about your family.

I am the oldest of three girls. My middle sister plays softball and soccer. I have coached my little sister’s cheer team for the last three years. My father owns his own construction company and my mother works for homeland security.

Tell us something interesting about yourself that many of your friends may not know.

I really like to do people’s makeup.
