Grief Services

If you've suffered a loss or want to help someone who's grieving, turn to Aultman Grief Services. We offer a variety of free resources to guide you through the grieving process and let the healing begin.

Education and Support Groups

The Aultman Grief Services staff is available to speak free of charge at local schools, clubs, organizations, churches, synagogues and workplaces. We also offer a variety of support groups for adults who are coping with the loss of a loved one. These are available to the community at no charge. Our experts are here to help you understand grief and give you the tools to cope with your grief and journey toward healing. Most groups meet at the Women’s Board of Aultman Hospital Compassionate Care Center. The facility is located on the Aultman Woodlawn campus. Please call 330-479-4835 or email beth.wengerd@aultman.com to learn more or register for a group.

Grief Resources

Learn how to understand a child's grief and take heart during times of grief, resources used with permission from the American Hospice Foundation. Aultman Grief Services offers a variety of grief-related resources to help you and your family cope with death and loss, including the Doggone Grief game.

Aultman also offers counseling to anyone experiencing the loss of a loved one. Counselors who specialize in grief address loss ranging from the death of a loved one or pet to infant/child loss to anticipatory grief. Counseling may assist in easing loss and making grief more manageable. Most major insurances are accepted, but no one will be turned away for the inability to pay.

The hospice & palliative care bereavement program offers follow-up immediately following the death of a loved one through periodic phone calls, cards and home visits, if needed, to families in the program. In addition:

  • A memorial service is held annually to honor and remember the hospice loved one.
  • A holiday seminar is held around Thanksgiving to help people face those difficult weeks ahead.
  • Six-week grief workshops are offered periodically to newly bereaved persons.
