Aultman Hospital to Host Free Mammography Clinic on Oct. 2

CANTON, Ohio (Sept. 19, 2017) – The Aultman Cancer and Breast Care centers are sponsoring a free mammography clinic from 3 – 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 2, at the hospital’s main campus.

The clinic is catered to women who are 40 or older in need of a mammogram who may not be insured or do not qualify for free preventive screenings through their health insurance. Each attendee will receive:

  • A breast exam.
  • A free mammogram.
  • Breast health tips and information.

“Most people know or have known someone who has been diagnosed with breast cancer, and that’s why it’s so important to get screened regularly and learn about risk factors and prevention,” said Erin Meek, oncology-certified nurse with the Aultman Cancer Center. “This clinic is a free opportunity for members of the community to get checked for breast cancer while learning what they can do to minimize their risk of developing the disease in the future.”

As the most common cancer diagnosed in women, breast cancer will affect an estimated 246,660 women in the United States this year, with more than 40,000 dying from the disease.

Appointments are required for the screenings. They will be held at 2600 Sixth St. SW in Canton, Ohio, and parking will be validated. To register, please contact Erin Meek at 330-363-6025 or erin.meek@aultman.com.
