Volunteer Spotlight: Lauri Kratzer
At Aultman, our volunteers are just one of the many groups that have helped us to lead our community to improved health. Today, we’d like to introduce you to one of the dedicated volunteers of our Aultman Orrville Auxiliary – Lauri Kratzer.
Where do you live (city/area)?
I live in the Kidron/Dalton area.
When did you begin volunteering at Aultman Health Foundation?
I began volunteering in February 2019.
In what department do you volunteer?
Although I have volunteered in Endoscopy and Physical Therapy, my main assignment is at the front desk in the hospital’s lobby.
How did you decide to be a volunteer?
I was invited to join the Auxiliary by a current member. After some thought, I said yes, and I am truly enjoying it!
What do you like best about volunteering?
I enjoy being in the medical environment, and I like the joy and satisfaction of helping people.
What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of volunteering?
I enjoy flower gardening, reading, biking, hiking, traveling and my church’s “women’s sewing circle.”
Tell us about your loved ones (parents, spouse, children, grandchildren).
My husband of 47 years passed away in February 2018. I have one daughter, Vicki, who is a nurse at Riverside in Columbus, and one son, Jeremy, who lives in Hartville and works at Bridgestone/Firestone in Akron. Jeremy is married to Amy, and I have two granddaughters, Hannah and Hope.
Tell us something interesting about yourself that many of your friends may not know.
I rescue Monarch caterpillars, feed them, care for them and then release the Monarch butterflies. So far this summer, I have released 12 butterflies. I name every butterfly.
