Many orthopedic problems require more than one medical service. You may require emergency room treatment, medical treatment, surgery, therapy, medical equipment for the home or intense on-site rehabilitation. You can get all the services you need from Aultman. In some cases, you can even choose a location to receive those services that is closest to your home or workplace.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
Unlike traditional "open" surgery that requires a long incision, minimally invasive surgery is performed with precise cameras and instruments placed in small incisions. Patients benefit from less pain, shorter hospital stays and faster recovery times. Learn more about minimally invasive orthopedic surgery at Aultman.
Emergency and Surgical Services
If you have an accident or sudden orthopedic injury, Aultman's Emergency/Trauma Center is there to help. In addition, Aultman Immediate Care Centers, located in North Canton, Massillon and Carrollton, are also staffed by board-certified emergency medicine physicians who are trained to diagnose and treat common orthopedic injuries and fractures. When surgery is required, you can rely on the medical expertise and advanced facilities available at Aultman. Our medical staff includes more than 20 board-certified surgeons, many of whom have special skills in total joint replacement, back and spinal conditions, hand injuries, sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery. Total Joint Replacement Program Pain and stiffness in your knee or hip joints can prevent you from doing even the simplest tasks. Sitting, walking or climbing stairs may become difficult and painful. When conservative methods of treatment fail to improve your condition, you and your physician may decide you need to replace your knee or hip joints. Aultman has a Total Joint Replacement Program that combines an array of medical and comfort services to create one of the most trusted and comprehensive total joint programs in the area.
Therapy is an important part of recovery for many orthopedic patients. Aultman provides physical therapy to increase your strength and range of motion and occupational therapy to help you learn how to safely perform daily activities to regain the highest level of independence. Therapy services can be provided in the hospital or at one of our facilities.
Rehabilitation and Transitional Care Units
If you require additional care prior to returning home, Aultman offers two sub-acute care units. The 27-bed Rehabilitation Unit is for patients who require intense rehabilitation before returning home. The 30-bed Transitional Care Unit provides short-term, skilled nursing care for Medicare patients who are too frail to return home after a hospital stay, but who's condition no longer warrants all of the hospital resources. Patients must have a doctor's order and meet Medicare skilled-nursing criteria to be admitted to the Transitional Care Unit.
