Aultman Offers New Monthly Grief Group
August 07, 2012
CANTON, Ohio (August 7, 2012) — Starting Aug. 22, Aultman Grief Services is offering a new monthly grief group called Healing Grieving Hearts. The group is for families who have lost a parent, grandparent, child, sibling, friend or any loved one.
The Healing Grieving Hearts group was created to assist families in dealing with the issues that grief brings about. Grief affects everyone in the family, and each person deals with loss in their own way and at their own time. Oftentimes, communication is a major struggle after a loss. It is hard to know what to say and when to say it. The goal of the group is to help families feel better equipped to process their grief, to communicate effectively and to progress in their grief journey together.
The new family-oriented group will meet monthly on Wednesday nights. The evening will begin with a free pizza dinner before the families are split into age groups. Four different groups will be led by licensed counselors and grief specialists. The group facilitators will use art, games, music and communication to help members express their grief-related feelings.
At the end of each session, the entire group will reconvene for a closing ritual.
The Healing Grieving Hearts group will take place Wednesday nights, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Aultman Women’s Board Compassionate Care Center, located at 2821 Woodlawn Avenue NW.
Please call Aultman Grief Services at 330-479-4835 to register for this free monthly group or to get more information.
