Aultman is My Hospital for My Heart Care…
Hi! I am Lisa; proud mother of 8 wonderful children. I am thrilled to be alive today, and possibly wouldn’t be, if it wasn’t for Aultman Hospital.
My heart problems started last March. The morning began as any other: cooking, cleaning, packing lunches. I hadn’t been feeling the greatest, but I thought I had some indigestion. I got up from a chair and took about five steps before I thought someone was grabbing my heart and squeezing it like a vice. The symptoms passed. I told myself I would be OK, but I knew without a doubt what happened. I didn’t say anything to anyone until after I had seen a doctor. My primary care physician sent me to a heart specialist immediately.
Four months later, I kept retaining water, gaining weight and was so tired. Just walking to the kitchen and cooking was a nightmare. I felt my heart skipping beats. It hurt. I knew I needed surgery. Luckily, I saw an ad in the paper about minimally invasive valve repair at Aultman Hospital.
The surgery took place Aug. 31. I was extremely nervous at the thought of anesthesia. The fantastic Aultman team put me at ease. I can’t thank them enough for the outstanding care I received.
Today, I am 40 pounds lighter and my diabetes is under control. I feel so much better. I’m so grateful to hug and laugh with my children and spend time with my wonderful husband. A huge thank you to the staff at Aultman Hospital … I am truly happy to say that Aultman is my hospital.
